Lugols (topical stain) Iodine 2%

Lugol's iodine, also known as Lugol's solution, first made in 1829, is a solution of elemental iodine and potassium iodide in water, named after the French physician J.G.A. Lugol.

 Lugol's iodine solution is often used as an antiseptic and disinfectant, for emergency disinfection of drinking water, and as a reagent for starch detection in routine laboratory and medical test, shoulder, knee and localized pain. 

It is important to realize that the thyroid is only one gland of many glands and tissues that needs iodine. Other glands/organs/systems with high iodine uptake are the breasts, ovaries, cervix, blood, lymph, bones, gastric mucosal, salivary, adrenal, prostate, colon, thymus, lungs, bladder, kidney, and skin. Iodine is found and used in every hormonal receptor in the body. It has been shown that breast tissue prefers this non-toxic mono elemental-based iodine.

It was the famous psychic Edgar Cayce, who suggested iodine for all sorts of thyroid problems, who advised that it would be necessary to electrically charge the iodine to change it into its "atomic" form. 

Iodine is safe to use but too much taken too late in the day can be stimulating enough to keep you awake. As with any other supplement, use discretion.

TESTING FOR IODINE DEFICIENCY:
The iodine patch test is an easy and inexpensive way to test for this deficiency – a simple patch test that can be performed at home will let you know if you are deficient and about how deficient you are:

1. Place 1 drop of iodine on the skin; let the iodine dry. It will stain the skin.

2. If the yellow stain from the iodine disappears in less than 7 hours, then you are severely deficient.

3. If it is gone in 12 hours you have a moderate deficiency.

4. If you are not deficient, the patch will stay on your arm for 14-24 hours and then begin to fade.

5. The faster it fades, the more deficient you are.
